One of the many In-Game Advertising services we offer here at RapidFire, happens to be Product Placement within Video Games (aka Static In-Game Advertising).
With Static In-Game Advertising, the advertisements are programmed directly into a video game and is done so during the development stage of the game. This differs from Dynamic In-Game Advertising, where the advertisements can be implemented into video games and displayed to the players in real-time – via an ad sever and internet connection.
We’ve developed a proven and streamlined process in getting your brand into the video games, in the form of product placement.
Step 1: The Introduction
The first step in the process of Static In-Game Advertising, is the introduction. Here, we introduce ourselves as a company to the client, and discuss our capabilities. We also get to know the client and what their goals are. We’ll typically ask questions such as: Who is your target market? or what kind of timeline do you have in mind? or do you have any preferences as to which platforms/consoles you’d like to have a presence within (ie Xbox 360, or Mobile, or PlayStation 3, etc)?
Step 2: The Search
Based on the first step, and the answers to our questions, we’ll then proceed to the ‘The Search’. Here, we begin reaching out to the numerous game developer partners in our network to get an idea of what games are currently in development, and which games have the potential for hosting and integrating product placement type advertising. It’s here where we try to align the client’s brand with the appropriate video game.
Step 3: The Presentation
After ‘The Search’ stage, we will typically have a handful of possible and appropriate opportunities for the client. We then present these options to the client, and give our recommendations with regards to price points and game genres.
Step 4: The Planning
After we identify which game and platform would be the best suited to the client, we then proceed to planning and identifying exactly how we’re going to integrate the brand, product, or company into the video game. Possibilities are limitless when it comes to product placement, so we’ll come up with a few different and creative ideas for working the product/brand into the storyline of the game.
Step 5: The Execution
Once we narrow everything down in the above steps, the last thing to do is sign the paperwork and get started on the project. This is what we call ‘The Execution’ stage.
